    Verdict

Solva has paid the penalty for her consistency at the hands of the handicapper and may well be booked for a place at best again so a better bet may be Futun, who is preferred to Cresta Gold. The selection pulled too hard in a Listed race last time but looks worth another chance in this bigger field handicap today off what may be a decent mark. The Barry Hills-trained Prowess was not surprisingly outclassed in the Oaks but was good value for her win at York last time. This looks tougher for the daughter of Peintre Celebre though off mark of 89 and of more interest may be John Gosden's Numeric, who may be better than her run in the King George V would suggest. Salute The General has disappointed of late as has Peppertree Lane, who had earlier this season looked one to keep on the right side of. Cresta Gold comes her on top of her form and has to be respected but Futun may have too much class for her rivals and she gets the vote.
