        Verdict

        A difficult race to evaluate in the absence of form and the presence of soft ground. Special Gold looks the likely type to see off Southern raiders, Veneer and Mystical Land. Special Gold should possess plenty of precociousness on breeding as sire Josr Algarhoud and dam, Inya Lake were both juvenile winners for Mick Channon. The dam was particularly prevalent on a softer surface so if the ability has transferred from mother to son, he will be difficult to beat. Veneer looked in need of the run on debut and should have improved for the experience.Mystical Land is a rare early-season two-year-old from the stable of John Gosden. His mother is related to a number of speedsters but on the negative side, his father was much better over a mile upwards. Droopy's Joel was backed off the boards in a Lingfield maiden but failed to beat anything home on that day. Peter Chapple-Hyam currently has a 100% strike rate with his turf performers this year and the market is watched with regard to the claims of Cammies Future. Special Gold looks the type to succeed under these conditions and is duly nominated.
