In depth

This is a very different test for last week's comfortable Chester winner Colour Vision, who was receiving weight all round on the Roodeye but now finds himself at the opposite end of the handicap with an additional 6lb to carry. Argocat has his sights lowered but hasn't really been firing this year, while Emperor Of Rome has more to do than when winning a Redcar maiden last month and had earlier been easily brushed aside by CAPTAIN BROWN over 1m4f at Newcastle. The gelding was always playing catch-up when blowing the start at Musselburgh next time but that race has produced a host of subsequent scorers, including Queen's Vase hero Namibian, and Sir Mark Prescott's charge can make amends here. The consistent Dark Dune has only gone up 3lb for scoring over C&D two weeks ago and could be the main danger.

Colour Vision (FR) 11-2 (8-7) Driven early, soon tracked leaders, went 2nd 2f out, challenged over 1f out, led and edged left 1f out, stayed on well to go readily clear final furlong, won at Chester 2m hcp 0-85 (4) gd beating Never Can Tell (10-0) by 4 1/2l, 9 ran.

Argocat (IRE) 8-1 (8-9) Keen and tracked leaders, went 2nd over 4f out, ridden over 2f out, weakened over 1f out, 4th of 5, 11l behind Glencadam Gold (9-1) at Newmarket 1m 4f 3yo hcp 0-95 (3) gf in May.

Captain Brown 3-1fav (7-8) In rear, headway on inner over 2f out, no impression, 6th of 9, 7l behind Eternal Heart (8-5) at Musselburgh 1m 4f 3yo hcp 0-105 (2) gf in Jun.

Emperor Of Rome (IRE) 6-5fav (8-11) Made all, ridden over 2f out, stayed on well, unchallenged, won at Redcar 1m 2f mdn stks (5) gf in Jun beating Harvey's Hope (9-12) by 4l, 13 ran.

Dark Dune (IRE) 11-1 (9-7) Tracked leaders, challenged 4f out, led 2f out, edged left over 1f out, stayed on well, won at Haydock 1m 6f 3yo hcp 0-70 (5) gf beating Veloce (9-1) by 2l, 8 ran.
