Verdict
Le Ligerien bolted up at Newbury on Wednesday and Philip Hobbs has taken the view that his charge will be going up more than the 7lb he’s penalised here in the future. Ben Jones takes off a valuable 5lb again and the partnership will likely prove hard to beat but last month’s improving Wetherby winner Flamboyant Joyaux is a danger and so is BONNE QUESTION. Venetia Williams’ 11-year-old has been steadily working his way back to full fitness and wasn’t unduly punished when second last time at Lingfield – he is getting 14lb from the top weight. Vengeur De Guye is better over fences and on better ground.
