Verdict
A competitive finale but it’s difficult to make a case for Gangster and Woulduadamandeveit on recent form. King Uther may be in need of a confidence-booster while Duc De Grissay has been disappointing since falling when in front at Kelso in November. Takingrisks won the Rehearsal Chase at Newcastle off an 8lb higher mark but is not as effective over hurdles nowadays. The mare Deja Vue takes a big step up in distance having raced over 2m this season, though has won a point. Mount Mews has always been happier over shorter trips but Silva Eclipse stays and goes well here so is respected. Imperial Knight is still a maiden but lightly raced and quickly back over hurdles after failing to take to fences. DR DES went chasing last season without much success. It’s taken him a while to regain confidence but he beat an odds-on favourite at Uttoxeter last time with a fair bit in hand and is worth considering again despite being upped in grade off a 10lb higher mark
