    Verdict

There has been plenty of promise from both starts by Bahrqueen, who certainly showed she was going the right way on her reappearance at Salisbury last month. By a proven fast ground performer in Bahri, she is taken to come good at the third time of asking here, having shown more than all those who have appeared in public. It will be interesting to see how Ability comes out of his recent debut at Warwick, though it would be a surprise if he is good enough to step up to this level second time out and he may need more time to develop. The market will be the guide to the chances of The Player. An interesting debutante, he is a colt by Octagonal, who was a very over 10 and 12 furlongs Down Under, though as an older horse. John Gosden's stable are clicking into gear for the Autumn, and with a 25 per cent strike rate with debutantes, The Player must be feared.
