Verdict

An awful race where GOOD OLD DAYS gets the vote ahead of Bunts Lleep and Mountain Creek. The selection was a beaten favourite at Worcester last time and will probably be suited by this drop back in trip to a distance that has seen him perform with credit in defeat in plenty of handicap chases now. True, he has not won for almost two years, but he looks just about the best of a poor bunch here. Bunts Lleep has been doing the rounds in Irish points just lately and so his form is hard to assess in the context of this race. However, despite being long in the tooth he will probably have enough ability to get competitive here on ground that suits. Mountain Creek remains a maiden after 19 starts, all but one of which were in his native Ireland. He needs to show plenty more than he did on his debut for the Pipe yard at Towcester in May, but now that they have had a few months to work on him that is entirely possible. Gus has run well off higher marks than this on plenty of occasions and this trip suits, although he wouldn't say no to a drop of rain to keep the ground genuinely good. If that is the case then he can have a big say. Little else appeals and we will return to Good Old Days.
