In depth

Verdict

Fire Ranger, who had shown ability in bumpers, was a little disappointing on her debut over timber, but that may have been down to the testing ground that day and this faster surface should see her in a better light, while Poppet, who comes from a top yard, runs here in preference to an engagement at Wincanton later in the week. She was a big price on her debut over timber and had clearly not shown an awful lot at home, but she is open to improvement and the market may give a better guide to her chance. A chance is taken with hurdling debutante Tisho, who comes from the same family as the high-class chasers Townley Stone and the 1991 Grand National third Auntie Dot.
