In depth

Verdict

The Cool Guy, Pangbourne and Gone to Lunch are the shortlisted trio in this Beginners' Chase which is short on numbers but high on quality with Gone To Lunch perhaps the safest conveyance. The Cool Guy was a classy performer three years ago, finishing second in the champion bumper at Punchestown and he has won twice over hurdles. Tried just twice over fences, he was leading when falling at the last when last seen in February last year at Fakenham. He should be noted in the market after such an absence, he is classy, but is likely to need the run. Pangbourne represents Alan King and although his form tailed off towards the end of last season, he has four hurdles' successes to his credit and is to be repected on his chasing bow. Once again the market will be a good indicator to his chances, but coming from the King yard, fitness should not be a problem. Gone To Lunch is also a four time hurdle winner, and he has the benefit of two recent runs over fences, putting up a much improved effort to chase home The Tother One recently. His front running style looks set to find out any fitness doubts among the opposition and Gone To Lunch can win this tricky affair.
