Bumper winner Middleton Dene has shown promise in two starts since being put over hurdles and has to be respected in what does not look a particularly strong contest but a safer bet looks to be Programme Girl, with Trafalgar Man rated the pick of the remainder. The selection showed useful form in bumpers and lost no caste in defeat on her hurdling debut when finding just Mohayer too good in a similar contest at Sedgefield. Alan Swinbank's mare has been given a break since then and there may well be plenty more to come from the five-year-old. Lindseyfield Lodge may have found the going too soft on his hurdles debut and may do better back on a faster surface today. Spirit Calling has little to recommend him and of more interest may be Trafalgar Man, especially now that Micky Hammond's string is showing signs of revival.
