In depth

Verdict

He's A Humbug can defy topweight at the expense of Dickie Le Davoir, Baltimore Jack and Aahayson. He's A Humbug is only lightly raced but has now been successful twice in four starts after scoring on his comeback in a conditions event at Leicester a month ago. Thought good enough to go off as favourite for last year's Gimcrack, he is obviously held in some regard, and should be good enough to shrug off topweight here. Dickie Le Davoir caught the eye on his Ripon return, just being edged out in a close finish, and can go well along with Baltimore Jack, although he will need to step up another gear to beat the selection. The market should be noted as regards the rest, and in any case it is He's A Humbug that is the one to beat.
