In depth

Verdict

Another race which is almost too close to call. Kildrum was in good form around here in March while Saturday’s Bangor winner Captain Tommy tries to complete a quick double under a penalty. Henry Brown has almost seven lengths to find with Gibberwell on their run together here last month but is 6lb better off. Storm Lorenzo will be all the better for a run over track and trip 10 days ago but ROBERT D’ORES has more scope and can build on his second here at the start of the month, his first run over fences.

Formwatch

Storm Lorenzo (IRE) 6-1 (11-8) Handy, dropped to mid-division after 3rd, hit 8th, pushed along 14th, plugged on same pace thereafter, 4th of 8, 18l behind Lights Are Green (10-3) at Hexham 3m hcp (4) gs in May.

Kildrum (IRE) 11-8fav (10-11) Prominent, led 8th, headed flat, no impression on winner towards finish, 2nd of 5, 3 3/4l behind Hidden Cargo (10-2) at Hexham 3m hcp (5) hvy in Mar.

Robert d'Ores (FR) 17-2 (10-7) Not that fluent, in rear, headway 12th, kept on flat, went 2nd towards finish, no impression on winner, 2nd of 9, 8l behind Ballynagran (10-13) at Hexham 3m hcp (5) gs in May.

Henry Brown (IRE) 15-2 (10-10) Towards rear, plugged on steadily before last, no telling impression, 5th of 15, 6 3/4l behind Gibberwell (10-6) at Hexham 3m hcp (5) sft in Apr.

Captain Tommy (IRE) 6-1 (11-9) Mid-division, headway 13th, challenged 2 out, soon led, clear before last, easily, won at Bangor-on-Dee 3m hcp (4) gd in May beating Robin Des Fox (11-1) by 13l, 8 ran.

Gibberwell (IRE) 8-1 (10-6) Front mid-division, headway into 2nd 13th, pushed along and led 2 out, soon forged on, kept on gamely run-in, all out, won at Hexham 3m hcp (5) sft in Apr beating Ex S'elance (11-1) by 2l, 15 ran.
