In depth

Verdict

Hernando's Boy deserves to get his head in front having found one too good in each of his last two starts but Keith Reveley's gelding may have to settle for minor honours again and preference is for Chef de Cour, with Mohayer rated the pick of the remainder. The selection could not have won any more impressively than on his reappearance here in November. The drop in distance today is of little concern and Len Lungo's gelding is taken to defy the 12lb rise in the weights for that comfortable success. Peter Monteith's Shares does not win very often and he does not look well treated back over hurdles having won over fences at Musselburgh last time. Stablemate First Look should be thereabouts but may be a shade high in the weights and of more interest may be Don McCain's Mohayer, who made an encouraging return at Leicester last month. Chef de Cour makes plenty of appeal though and he is preferred.
