Verdict
Corlande was good value for his win at Market Rasen last month but the drop back in distance may not suit Don McCain's gelding so he looks best watched and preference is for Something Silver, who gets the vote over Pillaging Pict. The last mentioned handles testing conditions really well and remains seemingly well treated despite a 6lb rise for his recent Newcastle success. Loch Oscaig is less exposed than most but has yet to prove his effectiveness on ground this testing, while Miss Pross does handle it but is better over hurdles than fences. The vote then goes to Jim Goldie's Something Silver who was in the process of running a big race until unseating his rider at Ayr last time, handles plenty of cut in the ground and represents the in-form yard of Jim Goldie.
