Verdict
Maceo has not always looked to be the easiest of rides and would not appear to be the most natural recruit to the novice chasing ranks but should have too much class for his rivals here, the best of who look to be Billie John and Little Task. A winner on the flat in Germany, Mary Reveley's Maceo needs to be covered up as long as possible over hurdles and has tended to win his races in turn. However, this looks a weak level at which to start over fences and the nine-year-old should make a winning debut over the larger obstacles. Bangor novice hurdle winner Billie John is being put straight over fences and has to be respected, especially if the selection is on one of his off days. He looks the best bet for the forecast over Little Task, who has lost his way over timber of late.
