Verdict

Like the Masaka Stakes, the Easter Stakes has produced a good line-up, with the vote going to Dubai Typhoon; his biggest dangers might prove to be Kingsgate Prince and Asset. Kingsgate Prince has proven a revelation on the all-weather this year and has earned the right to take his place at this level. He should run well, although he has to concede a penalty to the field. The Solario Stakes third, Asset, looked a promising juvenile last season and earns plenty of respect and, in his race before that, he had beaten Campbeltown at Yarmouth. Chief Commander was second in Listed company last time, but that did come at Cagnes Sur Mer, while Dubai Typhoon ran better than it might seem in a slowly-run Group 3 affair at Newmarket last time out and it would be no surprise to see him go well today. Luberon looked progressive before being beaten in a nursery off a mark of 94 on his last start last season but he is bred to come into his own this year so is another that is of interest. Finally, Royal Power also looked progressive last season but, overall, has more to find to feature today, but he will at least give his trainer a sighter as to how forward his better three-year-olds are at present. For the selection, then, once again we return to Dubai Typhoon, who is a half-brother to the 1,000 Guineas winner Sayyedati.
