Verdict
A tricky handicap in which recent York second, Sir Sidney will need to beat an unfavourable draw in order to score from Gold Medallist and Lord Crispin. David Morris' charge has finished second in two decent Northern maidens, the last being at York to Mark Johnston's useful Persuader. Gold Medallist won under an enterprising ride in maiden company at Salisbury but was a tad disappointing last time out. This race isn't particularly strong and he looks a live contender on the book. Lord Crispin chased home Surval in a Haydock maiden on very heavy ground. She is rated 88 so a handicap rating of 76 does not look harsh under the circumstances. Royal Trigger is yet to confirm the earlier promise of his win in a maiden at Lingfield Park during the winter campaign. Double Mystery may benefit for a step up in trip.
