In depth

Verdict

The market will speak volumes about the chances of Red Damson giving weight and a beating to her rivals this afternoon. However, Silver Sash makes more appeal at the weights and likely prices and is selected to come out on top in the finale. Velvet Waters and Donastrela are closely matched on what they have achieved and are others that come into the argument for the places, while Topkat and Leg Spinner cannot be ruled out whilst they remain in such good heart. However, something will have to give when they bear down on the line and, as Red Damson has to concede Silver Sash 5lb on her return to turf, Kieren Fallon's mount may just have enough left in the locker to enable the champion jockey to gain a pleasing result after what has surely been a turbulent week for him.
