In depth

Verdict

A cracking contest and while we are loathe to desert Comfy, the three-year-old Al Jadeed looks well in here and is the choice to see of his rivals. Spoken of as a possible Guineas contender after winning at Ascot last back-end, John Gosden's colt had been slow to come to hand in the Spring and didn't reappear until last month, where he wasn't disgraced in defeat, giving weight to the useful five-year-old Heretic. He gets in here on much more favourable terms and should make no mistake. Comfy impressed on his return to action at Leicester back in May and wasn't disgraced in the Eclipse, finishing just behind his better fancied stablemate Islington. He will be tough to beat. Lundy's Lane has several decent efforts to his name, including when runner-up to Hurricane Alan in the Group 3 Craven Stakes, and when filling third spot in the Italian Derby. However, those runs aside, he probably has something to find. It remains to be seen whether Steenberg will stay this far, while Tizzy May looks to have a hopeless task on these terms. So this looks best left to Al Jadeed to lead home Comfy and Lundy's Lane.
