Verdict

Many of the field arrive for the finale with solid claims and this could provide a real test for some of the lesser experienced jockeys if it lives up to expectations. Therefore, Running Machine is only a tentative choice over the likes of Even More, Benrajah and Mamideos, who are all capable of putting in bold efforts. So too is Jacdor, who will be staying on when others have cried enough and is no forlorn hope for each-way players. The same also has to be said of Restless Wind, who has to enter the argument as a previous course and distance winner. Whereas Miners Dance has already enjoyed a fruitful campaign and gets on well with today's jockey. However, Sam Thomas has really started to catch the eye now that his claim is down to 3lb and his skill in the saddle could be a significant factor in keeping Running Machine on the boil as the race develops. The son of Classic Memory has acquitted himself well in better contests than this of late and, with the Venetia Williams string continuing in good form, Running Machine is the one for us in a very tricky race to close the card.
