Verdict
A competitive handicap with some familiar suspects doing battle over the one-mile trip. Exposed, but genuine, handicappers like Thihn, Brilliant Red, Naviasky and Free Option are difficult to win with these days and probably too high in the weights at present. Topweight Summer View will find this tougher than the race he won at Pontefract recently and more solid claims are held by the Lady Herries-trained Zonergem. A winner at Warwick last month, the four-year-old lost little in defeat in better company at Goodwood last time. If in the same form he will take plenty of beating. Nashaab and Judge Davidson are others to consider but it might be worth taking a chance with Henry Cecil's True Thunder. The fact that the Warren Place trainer has kept the son of Bigstone in training as a five-year-old has to be a tip in itself. Admittedly, the gelding will need to step up on previous efforts this term but with only three runs to his name there is probably improvement to come and, under Richard Quinn, he gets the vote.
