Verdict
With the main Guineas trials out of the way and with none of those to have run so far this season looking anything special, there is still time for something to stake a claim. Yafoul, who comes from the same stable who took the Fred Darling with Tante Rose, looks to have something to find with some of these on juvenile form, but this half-sister to Group 3 winner Ramooz looks the sort to do better at three. Tuneful, the winner of a small race at Beverley, looks to have plenty to find in this company, but lightly raced, she is open to plenty of improvement. Sun On The Sea shaped with plenty of promise on her debut, but this is a huge step up in class, while both Intercession and Lucky Date also have plenty to find at this level. Summer Spice does hold an entry in the 1000 Guineas, but she will need to improve on her effort at Windsor, if she is to take her chance in the Fillies Classic, while it would be dangerous to underestimate the chance of All-Weather winner Quiet Storm, who hails from a yard that seems to get the best out of fillies. Nasij is another who holds an entry in the Fillies Classic, but she has apparently been a little slow to come to hand and may do better later on in the season. Oblige, the winner of a nursery off a mark of 79, stepped up on that effort when beaten less than four-lengths by Soviet Song in the Group 1 Meon Valley Fillies Mile at Ascot. She wouldn't have had to improve much over the winter to take a hand in this. However, the vote goes to Pearl Dance, who wasn't disgraced when finishing fourth in the Marcel Boussac at the "Arc" meeting last year, despite not receiving the best of rides. John Gosden's filly had run at least as well in defeat when not beaten far in another Group 1, the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh, so this is something of a drop in class for the filly, who is taken to make the most of this easier opening.
