In depth

Verdict

With Simon Callaghan's runners going well and RED ALERT DAY looking best off at the weights here we will side with the Diktat colt to see off Bonus. Don't get over excited about Red Alert Day, who although being 12lb and upwards better off with these opponents than if this were a handicap, he has rather got out of the habit of winning this term. Even so this trip is ideal and he does run to a consistent level of form in defeat, so we hope he'll be able to reproduce that again here and score. Bonus is a thoroughly consistent performer at both six and seven furlongs and he is a credit to Gerard Butler. You'd have to say that at these weights it will be tough for him to win here but he won't be far away. Markab scored at Lingfield last time but has plenty to find here and Confuchais would look a better proposition if we were confident he would stay. Most of the remainder look out of their depth at the weights and we will side with Red Alert Day.
