Verdict

Ghinia and Hot Mustard have received some kindness from the handicapper since their respective latest starts but still look vulnerable to the younger brigade, of which ALEKO Is just the preference. The Cape Cross colt was disappointing last time but Mark Johnston runners should always be forgiven a poor run with their propensity to bounce back at any time and his previous run when a close third to Taurean Star in a competitive Ascot handicap rates useful form in the context of this race. He cannot be a strong recommendation however as both On The Bill and Miss Carbonia looked useful types who will progress after winning their respective maidens. Quantifying their form is not easy at this embryonic stage of their development but both should be taken seriously and assessed in the market.
