        Verdict

        The Henry Cecil-trained Rathor will not have to be anything out of the ordinary to carry the Niarchos family colours to victory in this company. Aviemore, Ruffed and Lotus Land are others to have a look at in the betting. The last named represents a yard that have started the campaign well and this well-related individual can be placed to good effect as he gains in experience. Ruffed is a half-brother to fair middle-distance performer Ofaraby and at least has the benefit of a run behind him. He did not really set the world alight on that occasion but might just be better suited to racing on turf. Aviemore never threatened on his debut and will need to start showing something before too long if he is to stay with Sir Michael Stoute. However, he was not beaten far at Newmarket and there are sure to be many that will give him the benefit of the doubt. Nevertheless, it may be more profitable to factor in a small stakes investment with Rathor, who is a half-brother to the high-class Sensible, who made his mark over this trip for Pascal Barry in France. The fitting of a visor does suggest that he might not be the most straightforward of characters, but it is also safe to assume that he would not be making his belated debut if he had not shown the former champion trainer plenty at home.
