Verdict

Quinsman, Guga and Fantino are potential improvers and Glowing Praise and Red Suede Shoes not done with but it's hard to get away from MEFRAAS. Ed Dunlop's charge was just run out of it by a determined rival at Folkestone having come to win his race but that experience looks sure to do him the world of good as he still appeared to be a shade green. He's up 4lbs and back in trip but neither of those facts are deemed as negatives in this company and he's the one to beat. Glowing Praise had no chance after missing the break in a competitive handicap on his reappearance and could fare better now. He's been dropped a couple of pounds to creep into this contest at the head of the weights and appeals as the biggest threat having shown promise when winning his maiden. Guga, Quinsman and Fantino have shown varying degrees of promise in maiden company but all represent respected yards and it would be no great surprise to see one, or indeed all, of them show improved form for the switch to handicapping and the market could prove useful. Red Suede Shoes was well held on his handicap bow earlier in the month but it's far too soon to be writing him off with his yard amongst the winners. However, he does have plenty to prove unlike Mefraas who looks a winner in waiting.
