Verdict

In a tricky race, we will tentatively select Empire's Ghoda over any number of his rivals, including quite a few interesting newcomers. This race should produce a number of future winners but, with so many unknown quantities lining up, have a look at the betting before getting involved. Alcharinga showed promise on his debut in a similar event 14 days ago, and, by the way, it is good to see the talented David Kinsella riding again in this country. Bogaz showed promise when second in a four-runner affair at Lingfield last time on soft going but he is bred to be suited by further so it will be interesting to see how he goes over this trip on this going. Dante's Diamond's form is respectable, while Empire's Ghoda has been knocking at the door and first-time blinkers could yet bring about further improvement. It is slightly surprising to see Cloann dropped in trip after a very promising Kempton debut run over six, so we will see how she goes, while Dorn Hill made eyecatching late headway on her Bath debut after running green but is hard to quantify the form of the race. Balthasar, Hidden Jewel, Loaderfun, Monash Lad, Belly Dancer, Satra, Three Strikes, Tit For Tat and Drum Dance are ones to watch for in the betting and Melvino will probably appreciate be dropped to five furlongs after a promising debut run over six. As we say, it's a tricky race to fathom, so watch the betting carefully but, without that information, we will opt for Empire's Ghoda.
