Verdict

CLAUDIO MONTEVERDI was a big disappointment in the Derby Trial at Epsom though back on a conventional track should do much better and he looks the one to be on. Lieutenant General won a maiden here in August but hasn't looked up to this sort of class subsequently but the €1.5m yearling The Major General is expected to step up now tackling a more suitable trip. Santa Monica was staying on strongly at the finish of the Group 3 Gallinule over 1m2f at the Curragh but Siamsaiocht has yet to prove she stays this far. Dermot Weld won this a year ago and the unexposed Zalfana is one to keep an eye on.
