Verdict
Unless John Gosden's newcomer Alumni News, an American-bred son of Belong To Me, proves to be out of the ordinary this should go to Gerard Butler's Shield, who is the TEAMtalk selection. By Barathea, the Hesmonds Stud-owned colt lost little in defeat behind Bugatti Royale at Nottingham on his only start so far and can improve his trainer's fine record at the track. Like most of his stable's two-year-olds, Mark Johnston's Big Luciano improved for his debut run when third to The Ring at Wolverhampton last time. With further improvement to come, he should go close as should Luca Cumani's Creato, who finished second in Italy on his first appearance in public. Paul Cole's Geography is probably better than he showed at Ayr at the end of August and has been freshened up since then, stablemate Masonry is entitled to improve on his debut forth here in which Emperor Star was only a length further adrift.
