Verdict
This looks a typically competitive classified stakes race with very little to choose between the 12 runners on official BHB ratings. Richard Hannon has his string in good form but Moten Swing, his representative, is unproven on the surface and is probably best watched. There are no problems on that score for Mad Carew, who appreciated the return to this trip when winning a claimer over course and distance last month. This is an altogether tougher assignment though and we prefer to side with Cut Rate. A gallant second over course and distance in handicap-company last time when beaten just half-a-length by King's Thought, the five-year-old has the assistance of Eddie Ahern and should give backers a good run for their money. Tiger Tops, another recent course and distance winner, and Petrus from the in-form stable of Clive Brittain look the best of the remainder.
