Verdict
Although yet to race this season, or on the surface, Frenchmans Bay is different class to his rivals and should be good enough to justify likely shot odds. Roger Charlton has not made a great start to the season but the son of Polar Falcon does not take a great deal of getting ready and is taken to win first time up. Of his rivals, only three have had the benefit of a recent outing, Aldora winning the Spring Mile at Doncaster while Lygeton Lad (who has been in great form on sand during the winter) and Shiny have both run respectably in their sole starts on turf. However, this is a tougher assignment for all three and a bigger danger to the selection is likely to come from another of those having their first outing of the season. King's Ironbridge has his first outing for Sylvester Kirk, having formerly been trained by Richard Hannon and Brian Meehan, and is capable of running well first time out. Kool and Patsy's Double are others to consider but we are happy to stick with the selection to prove too good for his rivals.
