In depth

Verdict

All bar Ishimagic can be fancied here, with Valiance getting the call. After showing good promise when winning at Warwick, Victor Trumper then ran well for a long way when beaten over a mile at Windsor. It is possibly surprising to see connections not revert to seven furlongs tosay but, with his trainer being very shrewd, he has to be considered strongly for this event. Habalwatan came from off the pace to score at Wolverhampton last time and is respected although the race might not quite be run to suit him with there being such a small number of runners. This all soins us towards Valiance, a good second in a Newbury Listed event last time as the selection for this race, with Ishimagic being impossble to build a case for based on modest form.
