Verdict
Normally there would be many reasons to oppose a filly that is set to concede in excess of 15lb to her rivals at this stage of the season but Sea Plume has a rock solid profile in comparison to the majority of her rivals and is given the benefit of the doubt as she tackles the Polytrack for the first time today. Of the rest, Esperance and Maystock are in a minority as rivals that have held their form recently and, along with Astromancer, should give Lady Herris's charge plenty to think about if they run up to their best. However, this does look like too good an opportunity for Sea Plume to miss and she is given a confident vote as she takes a significant ease in grade for her battle against the weights today. The daughter of Slip Anchor ran her best race to date when going down by half a length to Establishment over a longer trip at Newmarket a fortnight ago, confirming that she still has a bit to offer despite that being her eighth race without a victory up to date. Nevertheless, she has shown more than enough to suggest that she is far from done with yet and she can make the most of this shrewd bit of placement to strike a blow for her connections. The fact that Sea Plume is only 1lb higher than for her effort at headquarters highlights what a good opportunity this is for her, and she will be very hard to master if she takes to this surface.
