Verdict
Just One Smile can make the journey down from North Yorkshire a profitable one, with Trousers, Jonny Ebeneezer and Fearby Cross seen as the main dangers. Tim Easterby seldom wastes his rare visits to the Surrey track, and Just One Smile is taken to bounce back after her unlucky passage at Nottingham last time. She was going well throughout but never saw daylight until it was virtually all over, and was finishing strongly enough to suggest that the extra furlong here will suit. She overcame similar difficulties to open her account in maiden company at Redcar the time before, and as she is still open to improvement, only a failure to adapt to the Polytrack can cause her not to run a big race. Trousers showed that his narrow defeat at Glorious Goodwood was no fluke when returning from a break to score here over a mile in October. He should run well despite the drop back in trip. Jonny Ebeneezer has had three outings for his new stable, and a reproduction of any of his turf wins would put him in with a shout as well, while Fearby Cross saves his best efforts for Newmarket and it will be interesting to see if he adapts on a return to the all-weather. With plenty of question marks over most of them, Just One Smile looks the one to beat.
