In depth
Verdict
Mr Cospector is the tentative choice here, with Regal Holly, Uncle Mick, Cold Encounter and Lorenzino all worthy of ocnsideration. The selection looked like a horse to follow when beating Ain Tecbalet in fine style at Plumpton earlier in the month. He had been disappointing in his two runs prior to that, but he will be suited by the step up in trip here and could take all the beating at an attractive price. Regal Holly looks the main danger as this mare from the Charlie Mann yard showed a good level of form last season, including when winning in Listed company at Uttoxeter in March. There is sure to be more to come from her this season, but she may just need this run on her seasonal reappearance before she goes on to better things. Cold Encounter is another consistent type but this gelding may be a little high in the weights at present, while Uncle Mick is a game sort who is probably better over further. Lorenzino is capable of better than he has shown on his last two outings so is worthy of respect and it would be no surprise to see him fighting it out at the finish, but in a competitive Handicap Chase, we will take a chance on Mr Cospector to build on his recent success.
