Verdict
Now that he has regained the winning thread, Tayif is taken to pop in again, with the likes of Wainwright, Teyaar, Kilmeena Lad and Currency four of his main rivals. It has taken Andrew Reid a long time to get the best out of Tayif, a former winner of the Ayr Silver Cup, but the seven-year-old finally came good for the first time since his Scottish heroics when successful over today's course and distance a week ago. Jockey Steve Carson brought him with a well-timed run that day and is in the plate again. Tayif is still not badly handicapped on the best of his form and can follow up. Currency overcame a long absence through injury to score in a fast time at Salisbury in the summer, and put in an eyecatching late charge here eight days ago to finish third, just ahead of stablemate Juwwi. He should appreciate the step up in trip and can give Tayif most to do. Wainwright did us a favour when scoring last week, but had to be rousted up before pulling clear, and has a bit more to do at the weights. However, with the stable still in form, he is on the short-list. Teyaar put up a bold show in the first-time visor here recently and will appreciate the return to six furlongs. However, he still appears to be a bit high in the weights. Of the rest, Kilmeena Lad and Playtime Blue, both placed on their last starts, make for an interesting finale, one in which Tayif is a tentative selection.
