    Verdict

Coronado Forest, Blazing The Trail, Millville, Priors Dale and Sewmore Character form our shortlist of possibles for this race, with the vote going to Sewmore Character. Looking at the field. Coronado Forest was second over course and distance 10 days ago and, pretty consistent overall, has claims again. Blazing The Trail was two-and-a-three-quarter lengths behind him that day and now reopposes on the same terms. Golden Dual was a further length behind that day. Springalong and Golden Dual are closely matched on their course and distance efforts of December 7. The latter was quite well-regarded by Barry Hills at one time but appears to have had his problems and now resides elsewhere. Millville could be interesting in that he hails from a very good stable, while Priors Dale's second to Labrett here over a mile on November 12 rates as solid form at this type of level although, on breeding, this 10-furlong trip is not certain to suit. This brings us to Sewmore Character. Placed in maidens on Turf, he actually finished a head behind Labrett when in receipt of nine pounds when fourth in a mile handicap here on January 10. Strictly speaking, on the form book Priors Dale has his measure. However - and there will be many that disagree, we know - we feel that, being out of a Cheshire Oaks winner, Sewmore Character is going to relish his first attempt at beyond a mile and, as such, gets our vote.
