Verdict
In a competitive handicap, Able Mind is just preferred under Kieren Fallon, with Leo Boy, Jumhoor and Fiveoclockexpress also on the shortlist. Willie Haggas' gelding is consistent and progressive, and did not get the best of runs at a crucial stage when a fast-finishing second at Thirsk in a Classified Stakes last time, so is fancied to get off the mark here under the champion jockey. John Dunlop's Leo Boy showed a real turn of foot to finish third from an unpromising position in a good race at Newmarket on his handicap debut, and as such was a disappointment when down the field at the Guineas meeting. However, things did not go quite his way that day and he is not one to rule out by any means. Jumhoor has some consistent efforts in maiden company behind him, and has not been too harshly treated by the handicapper for his debut in this grade, so he could be thereabouts from a nice-looking draw, while James Fanshawe's Fiveoclockexpress went in many notebooks when third at Warwick on his reappearance. He was checked twice in running that day, and as he also has form on an easy surface last season he seems sure to go close off just a one pound higher mark.
