Verdict

MATRAASH was a useful sort when trained by Mark Johnston, and though he's been unable to run to those heights since leaving the Middleham maestro, he appears to have been sweetened up by Mark Loughnane and can follow up a recent success on the turf. Beauchamp Xerxes is yet to win over this far but he made all to win a handicap at Wolverhampton last month and he must be respected. Tartan Trip was formerly a regular in big handicaps and though he ran with some promise at Kempton for new connections, he was bitterly disappointing next time out at Warwick. Waahej has had a short break since bombing out badly at Wolverhampton and it wouldn't be the greatest of shocks to see him bounce back to form as he ran well on his only previous visit here.
