In depth
Verdict
Plenty of top yards represented here, and only a narrow vote goes to Grand Seignour ahead of Selma, Bank On Benny and Detroit City to name but three. The market will almost certainly prove a guide here, and we would expect Grand Seignour to be to the fore after his debut fifth to 'expected' stablemate Big Band Music here three weeks ago. He ran green according to his jockey, and this half-brother to Group 1 winner Fairy Heights will certainly appreciate the step up in trip today. He holds an entry in the Vodafone Derby, and although he might not be that good, he should go well. Selma finished about two-and-a-half lengths ahead of him last time but she did have the benefit of a prior run and he should reverse the form with her. Bank On Benny is bred to stay and could be anything, but this is just about as far as Detroit City would want on breeding. The selection's stablemate Royal Charter showed absolutely nothing on his recent Southwell introduction, and he will have to improve markedly to get within hailing distance of Grand Seignour.
