In depth

Verdict

Kabeer, Waterside and King of Dixie make the shortlist in this competitive handicap with Kabeer given the nod after a string of solid efforts. Waterside is a versatile performer who may be a little high in the handicap just now. His confidence will have been boosted by two recent wins in claimers though, the most recent over three furlongs further. William Knight saddles King Of Dixie who is very much the least exposed of the field, justifying favouritism in good style last time after a lay off. He is an unknown quantity at this level but is respected. Kabeer won here a year ago and has been campaigned almost exclusively at Southwell last year, scoring three times. He has gone up the handicap, but we are provided to forgive a below par effort last time. Kabeer gets the vote.
