In depth

Verdict

Fiddlers Ford gets our vote here ahead of Bawraah, Amwell Brave and a number of others that could benefit from the step up to today's 10-furlong trip. Amwell Brave and Bawraah have finished second in each of their last two races - with those runs coming at this track - so their efforts, really, form the benchmark for the form here and both hold chances again in this race. We favour the latter over the former but he might not be able to confirm recent form with Fiddlers Ford. The last-named cost 500,000 euros as a yearling and is a half-brother to the champion sprinter Owington. He was a length behind Bawraah last time out over today's course and distance but possibly will come on the greater for that run. His dam stayed 10 furlongs and he seems comfortable at that trip despite his famous sibling's achievements. Of the others, Waltzing Beau has a bit to find on the bare evidence of his Wolverhampton second five days ago, but Wild Pitch was relatively highly-tried on his debut on Turf over six furlongs and it is interesting that he is immediately stepped up to 10 furlongs. Another Con has had two races to date, both here, and is another that could benefit from the step up to today's trip. It's an intriguing little maiden with our curiosity captured the most by Fiddlers Ford.
