        Verdict

        Barton Sands, Perelandra and Rolex Free form the shortlist of possibles here, with the vote going to Barton Sands. Much as Rolex Free comes here in good heart, having won two of his last four races, the weights here favour Darryll Holland and Barton Sands. The seven-year-old also comes here in good heart, having won his last two races and, despite the fact that he has yet to race here, looked good when scoring at Yarmouth last time and might prove hard to peg back. Perelandra looked promising when landing a course and distance maiden last season but has a 304-day absence to overcome if scoring. The others have to defy official marks to score so, with that very much in mind, there is no doubting the claims of Barton Sands, who is our selection.
