In depth

Verdict

A very ordinary claimer which should go to E Minor. Gerard Butler's three-year-old goes well here and has won off a mark of 65 in the past in a two mile contest at the track. Arguably, he needs further than this to be at his best, but he ran well over a similar trip last time and he should have too much for his opponents. Rayik has twice won over course and distance two years ago, but is a shadow of that horse now, and looks to be in the handicappers grip at the moment. Pancakehill has some ability and has won twice off his present mark, but never beyond 10 furlongs. There are clear doubts about his ability to get home here. Sangita won off just 33 at Warwick in September and despite having some all weather experience at Southwell, this looks beyond him. Of the remainder, Paragon Of Virtue could be the one to chase home the selection. Pat Mitchell's five-year-old is back on a handy mark here and should travel well, but there are clear doubts about his stamina too, and so he is opposed. Tremor is one with plenty of experience of the track here. He won a seller on turf at the course last year, but has not been seen out since his next run, in June 2001. If he is fit first time he could be interesting.
