Verdict
Course and distance specialist, Jelba, returns to Lingfield to try and won her fifth race at the track. Nick Littmoden gave this four-year-old two months off following her fairly moderate turf campaign in the summer. She made her all-weather reappearance at this course on 23 November, and was produced late by Ian Mongan to defeat the favourite, Marnie, by a length. She is not too high in the weights for that win and is certainly capable of scoring a quick double. However, the TEAMtalk selection is for Waterside. This John Hills-trained three-year-old failed to live up to expectations on the turf last season, but scored at Lingfield over the 7f trip on 14 November. He will carry nearly a stone less than last time out but has been hiked 6lb in the ratings; although the race is tougher, he should be able to manage in Class D company off this weight. Of the other 16 runners, Goodenough Mover is another course and trip winner, who scored the final leg of a quick hat-trick at Lingfield in September. He hasn't managed to win since, but shaped well here last time out. Meanwhile, Sir Francis won over course and distance twice in February and make his seasonal bow on Tuesday. He shouldn't be too faraway again.
