In depth
Verdict
From a shortlist containing Oatcake, Cyclonic, For Life, War Dancer, Dash Of Lime and Millsy, we will side with Oatcake. In a race that will not take a lot of winning, Oatcake, a good third to Bow Wave on her racecourse debut, should go well. Her absence since that run is a concern but, with her stable in form, the market will probably act as a good guide. From the in-form James Fanshawe stable, Cyclonic, who cost 40,000 guineas, would not have to be out of the ordinary to feature, while For Life has so far shown a reasonable level of maiden form. Of the others, Tadlil does not seem to possess the ability of his brother, the top-class sprinter Kyllachy, although today's trip should suit better than on his debut, and War Dancer is related to winners, so could be worth a look in the betting. Dash Of Lime is also related to winners and has shown some promise, while Millsy belied her market odds when running with promise at Newbury on her debut, but Mick Channon's Whistle 'n Flute showed little on his racecourse bow. All of which returns us to the selection, which is Oatcake.
