        Verdict

        Glencoyle gets the nod here over Crossbow Creek, with Fontanesi hindered by his penalty. The latter has been in fine form but will do well to give weight away all round. With speculation mounting over who will take over as Pipe's stable jockey, it is interesting that Richard Johnson gets the leg up despite denying being in the frame. In receipt of 12lbs, Glencoyle looks the answer though. The four-year-old bypassed the Triumph Hurdle after a workmanlike effort at Plumpton and probably ran just as well when third at Newbury last time. He will get the strong ride that he needs from Mick Fitzgerald and can account for Crossbow Creek. The latter is a course and distance winner and has been consistent at a decent level. He does seem to be found wanting at the business end lately though and will again be susceptible to an improver in the shape of Glencoyle.
