This has been run seven times and only once has the winner started at bigger odds than 4/1. THE STATESMAN (NAP) could be a useful recruit to hurdling having won three times on the Flat this year up to 1m2f, including his last two. If his jumping holds up, he is likely to prove in a different league to these, though may not be much of a price. High Wells also won on the Flat but was only third on his hurdles bow at Plumpton when sent off joint favourite. Phoenix Dawn may have to settle for a place again, though Sabrina Harty hasn’t sent the filly Sonic Wind across from County Kildare without good reason.
