In depth

Verdict

Valco De Touzaine was a well beaten third last year off today’s mark and Sam Twiston-Davies prefers Dormello Mo. Ballynagour has been raised 5lb for finishing second in a similar contest at Uttoxeter last month while Theinval won his first chase after five attempts when scoring easily in lesser company at Uttoxeter in May. GERMANY CALLING was a close-up third in a Class 2 chase at the same meeting at Uttoxeter when Charlie Longsdon’s charge finished just in front of Long House Hall with Henryville and Dormello Mo further behind. He gets the vote on that form given Sir Valentino is 9lb higher than when winning here on his penultimate start and Golden Doyen is usually thereabouts over fences without actually winning.
