A maiden that won't take a lot of winning and we are with Cherokee Star with Shannersburg and Elbistan the obvious dangers. The selection was a fair handicapper on the level and while his last run at Catterick was a tad disappointing, he is with a trainer who specialises in the National Hunt game and he may be slightly bigger in the market than his flat form allows due to his unfashionable connections. Shannersburg is sure to be popular from the David Pipe yard. Rated in the mid-80's when with Eoghan O'Neill, he is yet to conclusively prove whether he has trained on or not. Elbistan has been heavily punted on both of his starts to date. He set off at a breakneck pace last time out and emptied tamely on soft going at this course. Sprint winner, Fyodorovich wouldn't be the most obvious candidate for two miles over hurdles. General Tufto is well bred but alas, slow. Potemkin has questions to answer after a poor debut in June. Mark Tompkins is a rare visitor to Market Rasen so Kuriyama is worth more than just a cursory watch in the market. Ex-Michael Bell inmate, Gunnadoit went for 17000guineas at the sales and has plausible claims of getting this trip. Cherokee Star is our selection.
